Rawlinson Primary follows the Western Australian Curriculum in Mathematics.
From Year 2 – 6, students use the New Wave Mental Maths Books for connected learning across the school.
Teachers follow a mathematics vocabulary outline based on SCSA and Paul Swan, for each year level, to ensure knowledge and understanding of vocabulary is built upon sequentially from year to year.
We are in the process of exploring connected practice across the school with the use of a Numeracy Block, explicit instruction and Brightpath assessment to analyse data and select targets for future learning. This will also incorporate the Gradual Release Model of I do, We do, You do, to support every child in their learning.
The curriculum focuses on concrete materials, problem solving and real life mathematical computations, in order to prepare our students to successfully function in everyday life, now and in the future.
